Basic Cadet Training

Basic Cadet Training(BCT) is the cornerstone for our programs, every young person must go through BCT and earn the title of "Cadet" before being able to continue on into our more advanced training programs. Graduating from BCT and earning the title of "Cadet" is a true accomplishment, as the program is very physically and mentally challenging. It will require determination, a desire to learn, and a willingness to work as

a team with fellow recruits. Our programs are strictly volunteer-only, meaning that our programs are not to be used as a disciplinary measure for young people. We are an Army Career Exploration program, and only young people with an interest in the military, or a desire to be challenged will be accepted.

During BCT a recruit will be waking up early, doing PT (physical training)in the morning, learning how to march, going to classes, and constantly being challenged throughout the day. While attending BCT a recruit will have the oppurtunity to participate in a number of high-adventure (or "Hooah!") activities such as rappelling, martial arts training, running a confidence course, marksmanship training, using a simulator, etc...*

Recruits will learn basic U.S. Army drill and cermonies, rank structures, proper ettique, history, and much more.

The program is approximately two weeks long, with the first day being the check-in and in-processing day, and the final day consisting of a graduation ceremony in the morning followed by the check-out process.

The rest of the time is filled with challenges; physical, mental and at times emotional.

In addition to tough physical training and the various classes there can also be emotional stress from being away from home and being challenged in a way that most young people today are not familiar with. Fortunately, one of the key focuses during the training is in the concept and execution of proper teamwork; learning the importance of not only relying on others, but learning to shoulder the responsibility of having others relay on them. Additionally, for them to learn to relying on themselves; a lesson that can be the hardest to learn for some young people.

We strive to ensure that our programs not only prepare a young person for a possible future in the military, but moreso to make sure that the skills and experiences that they take away from our courses help them become better citizens and more confident in themselves. The lessons that they will take away from a summer with us will not only benefit them if they join the military, but in whatever career they choose to pursue.

In addition to attending Basic Cadet Training, we have made it so that in a single summer a young person can graduate from BCT a Cadet and they transition directly into one of our more advanced courses, rather than waiting a whole year. This is a perfect way to get the most out of one summer.
